Morgan J. Wells, Jr.


Morgan Wells joined the firm in 1988 and became a partner in 1994. The focus of his practice is defense litigation, with particular emphasis on the energy industry and the trucking and transportation industry. Throughout his more than 30 years of practice, he has represented a wide array of insurers and private businesses in these industries. He also has significant experience representing products manufacturers and premises operators and handling insurance coverage disputes.

Mr. Wells has handled numerous cases involving personal injury and death, property damage, contract disputes, and business interruption. He has defended claims involving oilfield remediation, oil well blowouts, rig explosions, trucking fatalities, redhibition, products liability, premises liability, construction law, and employer’s liability, in addition to, myriad general casualty matters. He has defended and tried cases in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas, and he has significant experience litigating complex multi-party lawsuits.

Mr. Wells graduated in accounting cum laude from Southeastern Louisiana University, where he was a member of the prestigious Thirteen Club honor society, in 1984. He then graduated from the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 1987. Following law school, he served as law clerk to the Honorable Edward A. DelaHoussaye of the Sixteenth Judicial District Court for the State of Louisiana before beginning his law practice.
