Larzelere Picou Wells Simpson Lonero, LLC was founded in 1988 as primarily an admiralty, maritime, and energy law firm focusing both on insurance coverage, including coverage litigation, and defense litigation matters for these areas of law. From this core foundation, the firm has since expanded its focus into other areas of law involving our two main practice areas: Insurance and Defense Litigation. All of our attorneys are licensed to practice in Louisiana, and many are also admitted to practice in at least one other state, including Texas and New York.
The firm represents a diverse range of clients, including U.S. and international insurance companies and underwriters, as well as businesses, including vessel and barge operators, oilfield production and service contractors, trucking companies, and premises owners. We always strive to provide our clients with the personal attention and dedication required to achieve exceptional results, while remaining always mindful of our goal to do so efficiently and economically.
Our clients trust us to handle coverage, defense, and subrogation disputes, claims, and litigation, including complex and multi-party matters, throughout the Gulf South and the Midwest. At any given time, we are involved in matters centered in Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. We also assist our clients on matters occurring throughout the United States, its territories, Canada, and Central America. Our cases outside of Louisiana usually involve complex issues and significant exposure, where we either serve as lead counsel or supervise and monitor local counsel on behalf of our clients.
Although we attempt to resolve claims through negotiation, mediation, and other methods of alternative dispute resolution where appropriate, not all claims can be resolved on reasonable terms. When litigation is necessary and claims cannot be amicably resolved, we defend our clients vigorously through trial and the appellate process.
Our attorneys are all uniquely qualified to offer our clients excellent representation and service. In addition to emphasizing academic credentials and accomplishments, we employ attorneys with the real-world experience and the legal experience, both in and out of the courtroom, necessary to meet and overcome the challenges presented by our clients’ cases. Many of our attorneys are recognized leaders in their areas of practice, and they are often asked to speak locally and nationally in both public forums and private presentations for our clients. The firm is rated A/V by the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating system, the highest attainable rating for ethical standards and professional ability. We have also been listed in A.M. Best’s Directory of Recommended Insurance Attorneys for over twenty-five consecutive years.
